“I am passionate about helping clients who have been let down by the medical profession. I am dedicated to supporting them to gain access to the rehabilitation and compensation that they deserve, so that they can move forward with their lives. “

I am an Associate in the Medical Negligence Department and Education Department.

In medical negligence I have a varied caseload, including gynaecological injuries, orthopaedic injuries, cancer misdiagnosis and delay, and spinal injuries. I also deal with a number of fatal accident claims, acting for the Estate and Dependents who have lost loved ones. These cases include injuries arising out of delay in diagnosis and treatment of bowel injuries, other organ injuries, and neonatal deaths. I also assist senior team members on complex high value claims, including those relating to birth injuries, and spinal cord injuries.

My education law experience includes supporting families to gain access to the right education for their children with special educational needs, to allow them to meet their full potential. My caseload includes, supporting families to secure EHC Needs Assessments, attending Annual Reviews, challenging sections of the EHCPs, including in respect of naming the right education placement, drafting EHCPs and securing funding for transport to school, or challenging refusals to provide the same. I have also acted for families when they need social care assessments, or to challenge the outcome of those assessments.

I am a member of South Hampshire Junior Lawyers Division and Hampshire Law Society.

Career Highlights

  • Junior Lawyer of the Year, at the Hampshire Law Society Legal Awards 2023.
  • Assisted on a birth injury claim for a 15 year old girl who suffered acute starvation of oxygen in the hours leading up to her birth and suffered catastrophic and permanent brain injury. She has severe dyskinetic quadriparetic cerebral palsy but relatively well preserved cognitive function. The claim settled in excess of £16.4m in compensation. The compensation has paid for a beautiful fully adapted home, specialist education provision into her 20s and will cover all of her care, therapy and equipment needs for the rest of her life.
  • Achieved a six figure settlement in an Estate Claim and Personal Claim arising out of a neonatal death. The baby was born in very poor condition, following a prolonged period of acute hypoxia due to placental abruption. The baby went on to develop seizures, an infection and severe brain damage before succumbing to his injuries and his subsequent death.  As a result of the injuries sustained during delivery and the consequences of the negligent treatment, the mother suffered a psychiatric injury, resulting in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The compensation has allowed the family to commence therapy to help them grieve the loss of their baby and to deal with the psychiatric injury caused by this traumatic event.
  • Assisted on a spinal injury claim for a gentleman in his 60’s, who suffered catastrophic injuries following a fall from 40ft, whilst in mental health crisis and as a result of failings by the Mental Health service responsible for his care. The full value of the claim settled for £5.25 million. This has allowed the Claimant to invest in suitable accommodation, care and therapies, and suitable equipment to meet his current needs.
  • Achieved a settlement in a complex claim relating to removal of the incorrect (and healthy) ovary and failure to inform the Claimant of the same for over 5 months. The Claimant lost all trust in the NHS. The claim was for general damages for assault against the person, for psychological injury, and further private treatment costs.
  • Successfully appealed the Local Authority’s refusal to grant single use transport for a child with Cerebral Palsy and as a result, has significantly delayed executive functioning skills, affecting his self-control and ability to manage change, significant anxiety, fragile emotional state, and low resilience. When overwhelmed, overstimulated, and over tired, X’s anxiety becomes very difficult to manage and can result in aggressive behaviour. As a result of having to travel with another student X was regularly late for school (exceeding the recommended guidance for travel time to school), missing key therapies and classes. This was causing him anxiety and emotional dysregulation to the extent that, not only was he not arriving at school ready to learn, but it was also impacting on his home life.  Following the appeal, X was awarded single use transport.
